“106 & PARK” Talks Teens and Parenting with Special Episode “Young,Single & Parenting” on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 6 PM*
SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCES BY DR. MICHELLE, DR. TARTT, RAPPERS DON TRIP (“LETTER TO MY SON”) AND TRAY CHANEY (“FATHERHOOD”)
On Monday, January 30, “106 & PARK” will air a special episode dedicated to young parents titled “Young, Single & Parenting.” The live, 90-minute special will deal exclusively with issues affecting young parents focusing specifically on the realities of African American youth.
Hosted by Terrence J and Rocsi, “106 & PARK Presents: Young, Single & Parenting” will speak directly to youths in the trenches – young people who are currently parents and those expecting. Participants will be informed of the responsibilities they can expect, the resources available and their rights as parents.
“We are proud of our place as the only daily source of Black Youth culture on television and we know it’s about more than music, celebrities and fun,” said Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials. “On 106 & PARK, we’ve taken the time to discuss relationship violence, teen body image issues, AIDS prevention and other topics relevant to our audience. Many in our audience are young parents and need more information and guidance than they’re getting about how to work through certain issues; not the least of which is working on the relationship with the other parent for the benefit of the child. It’s our hope that this special edition of 106 & PARK will help strengthen young families,” said Hill.
On “Young, Single & Parenting” viewers will hear live testimonials from young, single parents in our studio audience. Rappers Don Trip and Tray Chaney, both young parents, will join the show to discuss their videos – Trip’s “Letter to My Son” feat. Cee-Lo Green and Chaney’s “Fatherhood.” In-studio experts, Dr. Michelle (www.drmichelle.com) and Dr. Tartt (www.drtartt.com), will be on hand to answer questions submitted via a live online chat on BET.com/YSPTips.

Music producer Swizz Beatz on the run from Federal Prosecutors

According to the Associated Press. Beatz, real name Kasseem Dean, 33, is listed as the CEO on the website of the Hong Kong-based file sharing website, Megaupload.com, which was shut down by feds today.

The Associated Press reports: “The indictment accuses the company of costing copyright holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated films and other content. The indictment was unsealed Thursday, one day after websites shut down in protest of two congressional proposals intended to thwart the online piracy of copyrighted movies and TV programs.”
Swizz Beats is the husband of Grammy Award winning musician Alicia Keys, celebrities such as Sean “Diddy” Combs, Kanye West, Floyd Mayweather, Serena Williams and others are seen happily promoting the illegal service in the video.
Swizz Beatz, Megaupload’s CEO, was not charged in the indictment which was handed down on Jan. 5, and as of now, it is unclear how the producer/rapper’s involvement with the company will play into the case. The Associated Press reported that Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom (also known as Kim Schmitz) was arrested Thursday in New Zealand along with three others.
The federal government took the action against Megaupload.com, and also arrested several members of the company, hitting them with multiple racketeering and copyright infringement charges, according to a statement issued to MTV News by the U.S. Department of Justice. A federal indictment alleges that the site, which allows users to transfer large files, has generated more than $175 million in criminal proceed and costs copyright-holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated movies, albums and other materials.

A crew of African American pilots in the Tuskegee training program, having faced segregation while kept mostly on the ground during World War II, are called into duty under the guidance of Col. A.J. VP Records Releases Singing Melody’s ‘They Call Me Mr. Melody’ Today!
Just like the crescendo musicians give listeners at the height of a song, Singing Melody has built the same effect leading up to the release of his 6th studio album ‘They Call Me Mr. Melody’ which is available in stores and online today, Tuesday January 17th, 2012 through VP Records!

Sean Paul goes on a “rampage” on his Twitter Account

According to Sean Paul’s Twitter Account he is apparently fed up with Jamaicans “who nuh rate him” for putting out authentic dancehall music. The Jamaican born, Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henrique on his Twitter page had a messages for fellow Jamaicans who felt as though, he has failed to remain a force in Dancehall Reggae Music. According to his Twitter page he had the following to say:
“RRR! ALL JAMAICANS WEH NO LIKE NOR RATE MI OR MY MUSIC GO S*CK U MADA WIT STRAW!!! A ME A REPRESENT U! RRR!!!” he tweeted. Shortly thereafter, fans called out Sean Paulfor his tough talk. Upon reading fan retorts, Sean Paul further clarified his stance.
“IF MI SEH IT AN U FEEL OFFENDED DEN DAT MEAN MI CATCH U! IF U RATE MI U WI DIFFEN MI CAH MI NAH CHAT2 U!BUT NOW MI KNO U NO WIT MI,” he said. He added, “BLESSINGS SAME WAY!!!BEEN FLYING THE FLAG 4 JACANS 2 B TREATED AS EQUALS!!!SO WHEN A 1 DOE RATE DAT IT MEK I WANDA WHY MI A DWEET.”
