The Federal Reserve raised U.S. interest rates for a 17th straight time on Thursday and said more rises may be needed to curb inflation. The financial markets have already almost fully priced in another interest rate hike in August.
The Fed’s benchmark rate sets the base for a range of U.S. interest rates, including mortgage rates. Are higher interest rates crimping your spending? Post your comments below.

Children’s author J.K. Rowling has revealed that at least two characters will die in the final installment of her Harry Potter series. “The final chapter is hidden away, although it’s now changed very slightly,” she said in an interview broadcast on Monday on Britain’s Channel 4. “One character got a reprieve, but I have to say two die that I didn’t intend to die.”
She won’t give the plot away, however. Which chara
cters do you think will die?
On Sunday, the author told Reuters:Â “I am feeling sad as it is the last one. But so far, so good.” Rowling is now writing the seventh and final book in the saga that has already sold over 300 million copies.

Warren Buffett, 75, is donating about $37 billion to foundations run by his friend and bridge partner Bill Gates and by the Buffett family. The Gates foundation, the largest U.S. charitable foundation by assets, supports on education and global health initiatives.
Buffett (pictured left) is the chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway and worth an estimated $44 billion, according to Forbes magazine. That makes him the world’s second-richest man behind Gates, who is worth about $50 billion.

Wondering why the rough is so tough at Winged Foot Golf Club, home to U.S. Open this year? How tricky have they made the greens? Whether the course, one of the best in America, will handle the tens of thousands following their favorite players? Will the weather impact the course?
Tim Moraghan is the man to ask. As the U.S. Golf Association’s agronomist for championships, Moraghan is probably closer to the conditions in tournament golf play than anyone. Send a question or a comment to Moraghan to the link below. Reuters sports reporter Larry Fine is covering the U.S. Open and expects to meet up with Moraghan on Friday. We’ll post his replies then.
